Applause Community Theatre is a Twin Cities based company that specializes in original works by local playwrights and intimate shows that make audiences feel. The Playwright Workshop serves this goal by reading, encouraging, and critiquing a new play from a local playwright each time. The plays are read aloud and then discussed.

In this workshop, the play "Letters" by Ginny Leutgeb will be up for review. Ginny has performed with a variety of community theatre groups in the Twin Cities for the past two decades, including Lyric Arts and Applause Community Theatre. Since completing her Theatre Arts degree (at the age of 60) she has also ventured into playwrighting and directing. In her new work "Letters", a woman struggles with her desire to reunite with her estranged family while bearing the guilt of her actions so many years before as she approaches turning 50. The family has continued to live in her memory, and she now finds that bringing those memories to life years later exposes her to fear, conflict and grief as she strives for forgiveness and love.
