James & Suzanne Bettendorf—Swimming in the Earth

About the Book:

In 2012 and 2013 James Bettendorf's granddaughter fought a 14 month battle with leukemia. Most of his poems were written during that time and had their genesis in or are exact descriptions of dreams he was writing down in language and image. The collection's topics vary from grief to current events, and the accompanying art by Suzanne Bettendorf is inspired by the individual poems.
