Poetry Reading: Steven J. Jacobson & Guthema Roba

Join Eat My Words for an evening of thought-provoking poetry from local authors Steven J. Jacobson, author of Spiritual Gait, and Gutehma Roba, author of Please Come Home and Wake Up and Roar

About the Authors:

Steven J. Jacobson is a poet living in Hopkins, Minnesota. Steven is a lifelong “Midwesterner”. Steven has publishes in poetry magazines including Access Press, Linnet’s Wings, Burningword Literary Journal, Eunoia Review, Little Red Tree Publishing, Indiana Voice Journal, Leaves of Ink, Aphelion, Thought Notebook and Storyteller Magazine. He is a featured poet in metric conversions: poetry of our time (Editura StudIS, 2013) a compilation of poetry described by author and translator Taner Murat as an act of “intercultural exchange.” An e-book, Spiritual Gait was recently published in June 2016 by Storyteller Magazine and a second book is in the works called Spiritual Realm.

Guthema Roba currently works for the Hennepin County library. He was born and partly grew up in Ethiopia, East Africa, before he immigrated to the United States. His book Please Come Home is a collection of mystical poetry that reminds us to live in the present moment. He says life becomes a prayer when fully lived and celebrated each day. Good poetry, he adds, is the one that brings us closer to our heart. He hosts a monthly poetry gathering at the Golden Valley library, offers meditation sessions in twin cities areas, and writes poetry on a daily basis. He lives in Minneapolis with his wife and two daughters.
